In March 1996, Firestarter gave The Prodigy their first UK Number One single and their tenth consecutive hit and catapulted the band to a whole new level of success. In November Breathe, their high-impact compound of relentless sub-sonic bass and eery guitars gave them a second Number One, selling over 700,000 copies in Britain alone and becoming a top twenty hit in a further 20 countries and Number One in eight of those. With another Number One position and sales approaching a million, The Fat Of The Land (which includes both chart-topping singles) is The Prodigy's second Mercury Music Prize shortlisted album.
