This track finds the preppy popsters in a more maligned mood than on previous outings, the song providing their eponymous album with its most balladic moment. The super simple black and white video that accompanies the song isn't the only recent release from The Drums: their cover of Arcade Fire's 'We Used To Wait' has been all over the Internet this week. The adoptive New Yorkers have instilled the song with their trademark optimism and offered it as a free download ahead of their forthcoming US tour with Surfer Blood.]]>

'My KZ, Yr BF' has fast become a sound of the summer, cropping up in clubs, on blogs and the all over the radio. The newly re-released single will be backed with a specially recorded cover of Gloworm's 'Carry Me Home'. The tune epitomised an explosion in mid-Nineties Dance that saw many records cross over from the underground into the Top Ten and marked a new chapter for the UK's love affair with American Dance music. As a childhood favourite of the band, it makes it a perfect song to cover.]]>

Diplo and Switch's Major Lazer party has become one of Carnival's top destinations, and last Monday's session under the Westway was undoubtably the biggest and best yet. During the course of the day Joker, Drop The Lime and David Rodigan all shook the soundsystem, but it was the transatlantic duo's own set that sent the capacity crowd wild. For their following fourth album they’ve left the garage in Portland behind and decamped to Malibu with Rick Rubin. ‘Heavy Cross’ is the first evidence from these sessions and it pulses with all the sweat soaked sexuality that made ‘Control’ such an incontestable hit, but raises the stakes with the standard of production you’d expect from a true legend of American music like Mr Rubin.]]>

In a clip that picks up directly from where 'Bang Bang Bang' left off, Mr Ronson goes blonde and sets through the streets of South London on a BMX with a Boom Box. Wildbirds and Peacedrums join forces with iconic filmmaker Vincent Moon for a striking performance in one of the most famous boxing gyms in New York. The maturity and world-weariness that resounds throughout 'Paupers Field' belies Dylan LeBlanc's young age. Jeremy Warmsley and Elizabeth Sankey made the right decision in using old Instamatic snaps for their press shots and cut ups of beach movies for their videos; the dislocated nostalgia of found photos and saturated crackle of old VHS tapes are the perfect match for the duo's hazy, sentimental Pop. It would be easy to file Summer Camp under the burgeoning 'Chillwave' tag, but the smart musicality Warmsley established with his own solo sets ensures Summer Camp's sound is both sophisticated and sincere.]]>

Dance music is, by it’s very nature, reliant on setting, which is why it can sometimes be a tricky translation from dancefloor to album. Sheffield’s Toddla T is no stranger to the discotheque, in fact he’s very much a DJ du jour - another factor that could have easily had a detrimental effect on his debut long player. Fortunately Toddla’s taken notes from his townsmen the Arctic Monkeys (Matt Helders appears on the album, as do Roots Manuva and Tinchy Stryder) and ignored much of the hype that surrounds him, producing an album that bumps with energy and humour and captures the excitement of his sweat inducing sets.]]>

Many bands call Brooklyn home, but none make music as delicate and darkly melodic as all girl trio Au Revoir Simone. They’ve spent the past couple of years touring Europe and the U.S, and though a life on the road has no doubt won them swathes of new fans, it’s also informed their new album ‘Still Night, Still Light’.
